#2 Lot of the Riachuelo system in Buenos Aires (Argentina)

Process: Waste water pre-treatment

Duration of the project: 2019 - in progress

Client: AySa (Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos S.A.)

The #2 Lot of the Riachuelo system in Buenos Aires (Argentina) is an infrastructure and engineering project aimed at the reduction of organic pollution in the Rio de la Plata where the Riachuelo River, the most contaminated river in Argentina, flows.

This is a fundamental work to assist the struggle against pollution in the Argentine metropolis. Fisia Italimpianti will engage in the construction of a pre-treatment plant of the municipal waste water with relevant pumping stations, with a capacity of 27 m3 per second that will turn it into one of the largest plants in the world in terms of capacity.

The work represents the second of the three lots of the Riachuelo system, which will contribute to improve the severe environmental situation of the Matanza Riachuelo catchment area, guaranteeing flexibility and safety to the Buenos Aires water purification system, with beneficial effects for the health and life quality of approximately 4.3 million inhabitants.

The Riachuelo system will process up to a maximum of 2,332,800 m3 of waste water per day.

Fisia Italimpianti has been present in Argentina since 2017 and with this project enters the South American market for large purification plants.
