Contract for the expansion of the East Naples wastewater treatment plant
With a treatment capacity of 7.2 m³/s, the facility will increase its water purification capacity by 140% compared to current performance.
Structured in three phases, the core of the new wastewater treatment system will consist of:
- An advanced biological treatment, in which carefully selected and monitored bacteria will remove pollutants by converting them into biomass and enable the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus—elements that, if left untreated, could disrupt the balance of the marine ecosystem;
- A secondary clarification phase, ensuring sludge separation and process stability;
- A final filtration and disinfection process using sustainable technology that eliminates bacteria and viruses without the use of chemical agents.
The project will support the reopening of coastal areas for bathing, fostering economic development, tourism, and employment growth.
