Sokoto Acqueduct
Clariflocculation, filtration over rapid-gravity filters, disinfection with gaseous chlorine. The plant treats surface water from the Garonyo artificial basin and from the Rima river for the Sokoto Acqueduct.
The Sokoto water supply extension project is located in Sokoto State, in north-western Nigeria. The project was designed and constructed from 1987 to 1990 for the Sokoto State Water Board. The plant treats surface water from the Garonyo artificial basin and from the Rima river for the Sokoto Acqueduct by clariflocculation, filtration over rapid-gravity filters, disinfection with gaseous chlorine.
The execution of the project has given to this area a contribution to solve the problem of the desertification, a growing menace in most states of North Africa, especially the ones that lie near the Sahara desert.
